Korean rip-off Kimetsu no Yaiba ends service

by Gacha Gamer

This probably comes off to no one’s surprise but the rip off of Kimetsu no Yaiba / Demon Slayer mobile game developed for the Korean market is officially shutting down. This announcement was made only after 5 days since the game’s launch via an official Cafe Naver post. Game’s service will be shut down on the 29th of April 2020, 10 AM KST. The availability to make in-game purchases has been suspended since 8 PM KST on the 27th of April.

The reason why the game is being shut down is due to several “problems” that have been surrounding the game. The developers have decided it would be for the best by ceasing the operations of the game. The developer has made a statement that the game is not being shut down due to plagiarism.

Adding onto the copy-paste of the game’s nature of development mentality, it also seems that the gameplay mechanics have been applied from another mobile game as well. However, be that as it may, it is considered a standard practice in today’s mobile game market to take the best gameplay systems out there and add your own twist to them. “Luckily” for the developers, the game is shutting down and no one will be able to further investigate their copied gameplay system.
